• Room accommodations are assigned based on the ticket tier selected at booking.
• Guests are expected to respect the retreat property and any applicable house rules.
• Participants must inform us of any allergies or dietary restrictions in advance.
• Retreat schedules are intentionally relaxed and flexible, and all activities are optional.
1. Booking & Payment
A non-refundable deposit of $200 is required to reserve your space at an Escape Between the Lines retreat. Retreat spaces are limited and are only considered confirmed once the required deposit or full payment has been received and acknowledged by Escape Between the Lines Ltd.
Guests may choose to pay in full at the time of booking or secure their space with the required deposit. Payment plans may be offered for select retreats and, when applicable, all payment deadlines will be outlined during the booking process and on issued invoices.
All balances must be paid in full by the final payment deadline specified for the retreat. Failure to complete payments by the stated deadlines may result in the retreat space being released and made available to another guest.
If a payment is missed, we will do our best to reach out and work with you. However, continued non-payment may result in the cancellation of the booking.
Retreat bookings may not be transferred or resold without prior written approval from Escape Between the Lines Ltd.
2. Cancellation & Refund Policy
We know life happens, and we truly wish we could be more flexible. Because our retreats are small and intimate, every booking directly impacts the experience we're able to create.
A $200 deposit is required to secure your retreat space and is non-refundable.
Additional payments made beyond the deposit may be eligible for refund if cancellation is requested before the final payment deadline. After the final payment deadline, refunds cannot be guaranteed. If we are able to fill your space with another guest, a refund may be issued at the discretion of Escape Between the Lines Ltd., less the non-refundable deposit.
If you are unable to attend, you may request to transfer your booking to another person with prior written approval from Escape Between the Lines Ltd.
If Escape Between the Lines Ltd. must cancel a retreat due to circumstances beyond our control, guests will receive either a full refund or the option to transfer their payment to a future retreat.
Escape Between the Lines Ltd. is not responsible for personal travel expenses, transportation arrangements, accommodations booked outside of the retreat, or any associated costs incurred by participants.
3. Organizer Cancellation & Minimum Attendance
Escape Between the Lines Ltd. reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a retreat if the minimum number of participants required to operate the retreat is not met, or due to circumstances beyond our control including venue issues, safety concerns, severe weather, or other unforeseen circumstances.
If a retreat must be cancelled by Escape Between the Lines Ltd., participants will be notified as soon as possible and will receive either a full refund or the option to apply their payment as a credit toward a future Escape Between the Lines retreat.
Confirmation timelines and any retreat-specific deadlines will be communicated in your booking confirmation.
4. Force Majeure
While we always do our best to ensure retreats proceed as planned, circumstances beyond our control may occasionally require a retreat to be postponed, modified, or cancelled.
These circumstances may include severe weather, natural disasters, public health emergencies, government restrictions, venue closures, transportation disruptions, or other unforeseen events.
If a retreat is affected by circumstances beyond our control, Escape Between the Lines Ltd. will communicate with participants as soon as possible and provide any available options regarding refunds, credits, transfers, or rescheduling.
5. Retreat Schedule & Activities
Retreat schedules and activities may be adjusted due to weather, venue requirements, guest needs, or other unforeseen circumstances. If changes are necessary, we will communicate them as early as possible.
Our retreats are intentionally relaxed and flexible. Nothing is mandatory. Whether you spend the weekend deep in a book, joining every activity, connecting with fellow readers, or simply enjoying some quiet time to yourself, we want you to experience the retreat in whatever way feels right for you.
6. Accommodation & Shared Spaces
Depending on the ticket tier selected at booking, accommodations may include either private or shared sleeping spaces, as well as access to shared common areas throughout the retreat property.
We ask that all guests treat the property, furnishings, and shared spaces with care and respect, just as you would hope others would treat a space you love. A little consideration goes a long way in helping create the peaceful, welcoming atmosphere we strive to provide for everyone.

Passage Escape — a shared room with two queen beds, ideal for readers who enjoy a balance of connection and personal space.
Verse Escape — a shared room accommodation featuring a queen bed within a shared retreat space.
Page Escape — a shared room accommodation featuring a double loft bed within a shared retreat space.

Full details of what is included with each tier are available on the retreat booking page.
Room assignments are made by Escape Between the Lines Ltd. based on the ticket tier purchased at booking. While we will always do our best to accommodate preferences where possible, specific room requests, roommate requests, or tier changes cannot be guaranteed and are subject to availability and approval.
8. Bathroom & Shared Facility Use
Some retreat accommodations include shared bathrooms and communal spaces such as kitchens, living areas, and lounges.
We ask all guests to be mindful of others when using shared spaces and to leave them as they found them. A little courtesy goes a long way in helping create a comfortable and welcoming experience for everyone.
9. Airbnb Property Use
Our retreats take place in privately owned vacation rental properties. By attending, participants agree to respect the property and follow all house rules provided by Escape Between the Lines Ltd. and the property owner or host.
If damage occurs as a result of a participant's actions, that participant may be held responsible for any associated repair, replacement, cleaning, or other costs incurred, including fees charged by the property owner or host.
10. Venue Changes
In rare circumstances, a retreat venue may need to change due to factors outside of our control. If this occurs, Escape Between the Lines Ltd. will make every reasonable effort to secure an alternative venue of similar quality and suitability and will communicate any updates to participants as soon as possible.
11. Behaviour Expectations
Escape Between the Lines Ltd. retreats are spaces where everyone should feel welcome, safe, respected, and at ease. We ask all guests to treat one another, the retreat team, and the retreat space with kindness and consideration.
In the rare event that a guest's behaviour is disruptive, inappropriate, or negatively impacts the experience of others, Escape Between the Lines Ltd. reserves the right to ask that guest to leave the retreat without refund. Any such decision will be made with the comfort, safety, and well-being of all participants in mind.
12. Alcohol & Substance Policy
Our retreats are designed to be calm, restorative experiences, and we want everyone to feel comfortable regardless of their relationship with alcohol.
Alcohol, cannabis, and other recreational substances are not permitted during Escape Between the Lines retreats.
This helps us maintain the welcoming, inclusive atmosphere we strive to create and ensures all guests can fully relax and enjoy their time away.
We appreciate everyone's cooperation and respect in helping us create a positive experience for all participants.
13. Quiet Hours & Shared Space Courtesy
To help create a restful and comfortable retreat experience for all guests, quiet hours will be observed in accordance with the retreat venue's requirements and will be communicated prior to arrival.
During quiet hours, we ask that noise in shared spaces, particularly near sleeping areas, is kept to a minimum. We appreciate everyone's consideration in helping create a peaceful environment where guests can rest, recharge, and enjoy their retreat experience.
14. Illness & Arrival
We genuinely care about the health, safety, and comfort of every guest at our retreats. Because we gather in close, shared spaces, we ask that any guest experiencing symptoms of a contagious illness, including cold, flu, or respiratory symptoms, contact us prior to attending.
To help protect the well-being of all participants, Escape Between the Lines Ltd. reserves the right to refuse attendance to any guest who is visibly unwell or experiencing symptoms of a contagious illness.
If illness prevents you from attending, we encourage you to contact us as soon as possible. We will do our best to work with you on next steps; however, our standard cancellation and refund policies will apply.
15. Food, Allergies & Dietary Restrictions
Retreat meals and snacks may be prepared by Escape Between the Lines Ltd. organizers, and we put a great deal of care into creating meals that help guests feel welcomed, comfortable, and well cared for throughout the retreat.
To help us do that, participants are asked to disclose any allergies, dietary restrictions, or food intolerances in advance through our guest information form.
While we will always do our best to accommodate disclosed dietary needs, food may be prepared in environments where common allergens, including gluten, dairy, nuts, eggs, soy, and other allergens, may be present. As a result, we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.
Guests with severe allergies or medical dietary requirements are responsible for determining whether the food provided is appropriate for their individual needs. Escape Between the Lines Ltd. is not responsible for allergic reactions or adverse health effects resulting from food consumed during the retreat.
16. Photography & Media
We love capturing the magic of our retreats to share with our community. Photos and video may be taken during retreats for use on social media, our website, marketing materials, and other promotional content related to Escape Between the Lines Ltd.
By attending, participants acknowledge that they may appear in retreat photos or videos. If you prefer not to be photographed or recorded, please let us know before or during the retreat, and we will make every reasonable effort to respect your wishes.

Please note that no refunds, credits, or partial reimbursements will be provided for unused portions of a retreat once it has begun.
22. Liability
By attending an Escape Between the Lines Ltd. retreat, participants acknowledge that they are doing so voluntarily, accept responsibility for their own participation, decisions, and conduct throughout the retreat, and understand that participation in retreat activities and use of retreat properties may involve inherent risks.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Escape Between the Lines Ltd., its organizers, employees, contractors, and representatives shall not be liable for any injury, illness, loss, damage, expense, or claim arising from participation in the retreat, use of the retreat property, or involvement in retreat activities, except where such liability cannot be excluded by law.
23. Property Rules & Guest Conduct
All guests are expected to follow the property rules provided by Escape Between the Lines Ltd. and the property owner or host. These rules exist to protect the retreat space, the guest experience, and everyone participating in it.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation in helping keep our retreats the welcoming, respectful, and safe spaces they are intended to be.
